Distribution

Global Book and Ebook Distribution Channel.

At last it’s possible for authors of any genre to have their books distributed and sold worldwide!

Enjoy true publishing freedom and control with Print On Demand (POD) and eBook distribution, and have your books available from over 30,000 wholesalers, retailers and booksellers in over 100 countries.

Taking advantage of this method of book distribution for both POD and eBooks will launch your books to the world market and ensure they are for sale 24/7. Should a customer want to purchase one of your books in Europe, not a problem! No matter where you are in the world if schools or libraries in the US, or Australia, Africa, or the UK or… want a zillion of your books, no worries! And (apart from marketing) you don’t have to lift a finger to make it happen. You don’t have to buy stock. You don’t have to worry about postage or shipping; it’s all taken care of for you!

Have you ever purchased a book from Amazon or one of the similar online stores? If so that is exactly how this system will work for your overseas sales.

Lighthouse Publisher has been chosen as a preferred publishing provider by one of the world’s largest book distributors, so with access to POD printers in the USA, the UK, Europe, and Australia, your book can be printed at the time of purchase (one book at a time) at a location closest to the customer and shipped directly to the customer’s door at the customer’s expense. We can also print quantities of books overseas if required.

Important: with POD and eBook distribution, you, as the publisher of your book, will retain full publishing rights, maintain complete control over your titles and earn a sizable royalties after costs! (see below). With Lighthouse Publisher you will never be asked to sign away your rights or your earnings. There will be stipulated contracts to that effect to protect you. Everything will be above board and will remain in your name.

How it Works: Print on Demand

With this distribution model, not only will your book be for sale on most of the major online bookstores such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and The Book Depository etc, but it will also be available on the amazing ‘Espresso Book Machine’ at no extra cost.

Here is the breakdown formula used to determine a POD royalty amount:

RRP (to be set by author)
Minus 14% tax (GST South African sales only. Sales tax does not apply for US, UK and Europe etc)
= list price
Minus discount 40% (bookstores’ mark-up)
= Wholesale price (RRP minus discount)
Minus print cost (deducted from w/sale value above)
= Net royalty for self-published author.

Author Receives:

A detailed sales statement, which will arrive in your inbox at the beginning of each month as a PDF email attachment listing the number of books you have sold in the previous month. Royalty payments are transferred directly into your bank account (payments from overseas sales are converted to your currency in line with current exchange rates at time of payment). No need to worry about invoicing, posting books overseas, or overseas tax issues. Everything is taken care of for you.

Publishing Tip:

We recommend that you also have some stock for your book launch, signings, talks, and reviews etc (we’ve got you covered there too, see services and pricing for our high quality and competitive short-run print options). You will need to do as much as you can to market your book. The above distribution model is designed to work hand-in-hand with the hard work that you are willing to put in and will tick over for as long as you want to sell your books for. No sell-by-dates, no returns, no worries!

How it Works: Ebook Distribution

This system works almost the same way as the POD distribution model but instead of your book being printed one at a time at the time of purchase they are available for instant download from most of the online ebook stores including Amazon (Kindle) Apple iTunes/iBooks, Booktopia, and Fishpond etc.

Here is the breakdown formula used to determine an ebook royalty amount:

RRP (RRP to be set by author)
Minus 14% tax (GST on South African sales only – 20% VAT on all UK ebook sales)
= list price
Minus discount 40% (ebook stores’ mark-up)
= Wholesale (RRP minus discount)
minus 15% distribution fee (deducted from w/sale value above, does not apply to Amazon KDP)
= Net royalty for self-published author

Authors are notified by email at the beginning of the month when sales have been achieved the previous month (however if POD and ebook distribution are combined the monthly sales statements will apply as per the POD system above) Royalty payments are transferred directly into your bank account (payments from overseas sales are converted to your currency in line with current exchange rates at time of payment). No need to worry about invoicing, or overseas tax issues. Everything is taken care of for you.

 Please Note:

In order to enable you more control over the sales of your eBooks we will also assist you to open your own Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing account (KDP) to run along side our eBook distribution channels. With our help, it’s a 5 min job to open an Amazon sellers account. Then we will take care of everything for you, submitting files, metadata and marketing image, and your eBook will be available for direct download worldwide with 12 – 24 hours. This service is included in all eBook distribution packages.
